Welcome to Symbiopædia
a wildwordwoods for the cultivation of a new language for the Symbiocene
A biotope for wild words, a symbiosphere to protect and stimulate the growth of a new language for the Symbiocene.
Words are living beings. Without us, they wouldn’t exist; without them, our life wouldn’t be human.
〰 words and humans are symbionts 〰
Words ~ our verbal symbionts ~ are building blocks we use to create our reality. How we use our verbionts, and what we identify with them, matters more than we realise.
Words have their own life stories, their families, ancestors and descendants. Many verbionts have radically changed their identities since they were born, often in another language, era, culture and place.
Some verbionts are endangered species. Some are misused, misinterpreted, distorted, or borrowed as euphemisms to replace taboo words (which is a euphemism for identity theft). Many verbionts have been weaponised in the Anthropocene and used to harm fellow humans.
To nurture the transition into the Symbiocene 〰 the new era in which humans and verbionts can live in alignment with our symbiogenetic nature 〰 we need a new language.
Words are symbiophile by nature. It is up to us ~ their users ~ to stop abusing our verbionts in destructive ways.
Words have their own identity and purpose. It’s up to us to respect and support our verbionts on their journey towards a meaningful, constructive and fulfilling life.
Symbiopædia is a paradise for symbiophile words, and their users. All verbionts and their human symbionts are welcome to get involved in this project, dedicated to the invocation of the Symbiocene.
